From Chef to Trainer and Consultant for Workplace Emergency Management in Queensland & Northern New South Wales.

Cody’s journey began in a quiet country town, where he was raised on a small farm. Immersed in the demands of farm life, Cody developed a deep appreciation for hard work and fresh, homegrown produce. These early experiences ignited his passion for cooking. From a young age, Cody was inspired by the quality of ingredients available on the farm and spent countless hours experimenting in the kitchen. This passion led him to pursue formal training and eventually become a chef.

The birth of his children marked a significant change in Cody’s life. Parenthood and a growing awareness of safety inspired him to shift his focus to emergency management, a field where he could help others prepare for and respond to emergencies after experiencing medical emergencies in the family, he prioritized preparation and education and learnt just how crucial a good plan is.

Transitioning from the culinary world to emergency management was the right move, as Cody embraced it with the same dedication he had shown in his cooking career. He became a trainer and consultant for Workplace Emergency Management in January 2024 where he services QLD and Northern NSW, using his practical approach and real-world experience to educate others on effective emergency preparedness and response strategies.

Cody has never lost touch with his love for gardening and cooking. These hobbies keep him connected to his roots and provide a sense of balance. Tending to his garden with his two young children, Cody grows a variety of fresh produce, which he uses to create delicious meals for his family and friends. Cooking at home has become a cherished activity, a way to share his passion with his loved ones while watching the footy.

Cody’s key advice is to have a fire blanket in the kitchen. A fire blanket is essential because it provides a quick, easy, and effective way to smother small fires, especially those involving cooking oils and fats. It’s simple enough for anyone in the family to deploy in an emergency. Compact and cost-effective, a fire blanket offers peace of mind, ensuring you can act swiftly to prevent minor incidents from becoming major disasters. Investing in a fire blanket enhances your kitchen safety, protecting your home and loved ones.
