First Aid Training

Course Set – Fire Safety Advisor (QLD)

Assessment Activities
Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

Performance tasks –
The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:

  • Identify and implement emergency protection systems and equipment
  • Monitor and review emergency control structures
  • Prepare for and undertake pre-emergency planning
  • Respond and follow instructions for a fire emergency
  • Operate as part of an ECO in a fire emergency
  • Lead an ECO in a fire emergency
  • Document and maintain a facility emergency plan
  • Manage a small chemical spill
  • Put out a small paper/wood fire

Documentation –
The student must complete the following to the appropriate standard:

  • Workplace emergency checklist
  • Emergency equipment fault log
  • Workplace emergency plan review report
  • Emergency evacuation incident and debrief form
  • Facility emergency plan
  • Incident report

Case Study –
The student must complete the following to the appropriate standard. Model responses are provided later in this document.

  • Hazardous work
  • Review safe work practices and plans

Theory assessment –  
A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. Model responses are provided later in this document. The student must complete all assessment questions.

PUAFER001 Identify, prevent and report potential facility emergency situations

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks – Identify emergency protection systems and equipment
  • Documentation – Workplace emergency checklist
  • Case Study – Hazardous work
  • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must successfully complete all assessment questions.

PUAFER002 Ensure facility emergency prevention procedures, systems and processes are implemented

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks – Identify & implement emergency protection systems and equipment
  • Documentation – Workplace emergency checklist
  • Case Study – Review safe work practices and plans
  • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must successfully complete all assessment questions.

PUAFER003 Manage and monitor facility emergency procedures, equipment and other resources

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks: Identify & implement emergency protection systems and equipment, Monitor and review emergency control structures
  • Documentation: Workplace emergency checklist, Workplace emergency plan review report
  • Case Study: The student must complete the following written case study:
    • Review safe work practices and plans
  • Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. The student must successfully complete all assessment questions.

PUAFER004 Respond to facility emergencies

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:
  • Prepare for an emergency situation
  • Respond and follow instructions for a fire emergency
  • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. Model responses are provided later in this document. The student must complete all assessment questions.

PUAFER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:
    • Undertake pre-emergency planning
    • Operate as part of the ECO in a fire emergency
  • Documentation – The student must complete the following to the appropriate standard:
    • Emergency equipment fault log
    • Emergency evacuation incident and debrief form
  •  Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. Model responses are provided later in this document. The student must complete all assessment questions.

PUAFER006 Lead an emergency control organisation

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:
    • Prepare and plan for an emergency
    • Lead an ECO in a fire emergency
  • Documentation – The student must complete the following to the appropriate standard:
    • Facility emergency plan (extract)
    • Emergency evacuation incident and debrief form
  • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. Model responses are provided later in this document. The student must complete all assessment questions.

PUAFER007 Manage an emergency control organisation

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:
    • Identify emergency situations and initial emergency response issue
    • Document and maintain a facility emergency plan
    • Perform a safety practice drill
  • Documentation – The student must complete the following to the appropriate standard:
    • Facility emergency checklist
    • Facility emergency plan
  • Emergency evacuation incident & debrief form
  • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. Model responses are provided later in this document. The student must complete all assessment questions.

PUAFER008 Confine small emergencies in a facility

Assessment Activities

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

  • Performance tasks – The assessor must observe the following performance tasks:
    • Prepare for emergency situations
    • Manage a small chemical spill
    • Put out a small paper/wood fire
  • Documentation – The student must complete the following to the appropriate standard:
    • Facility emergency plan
    • Incident/ Emergency report
  • Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions. Model responses are provided later in this document. The student must complete all assessment questions.
