Training sessions are compliancebased and conducted using the requirements outlined in Australian Standard 3745-2010: Planning for Emergencies in Facilities. For training, it is mandatory for facility members and nominated wardens to train, develop the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake the duties set out in the emergency response procedures.

All Wardens or ECO members need to undergo training that addresses emergency management criteria. For skills retention purposes, Wardens should undergo training at intervals not greater than 6 months. Training should be carried out over multiple sessions to impart the range of necessary skills and knowledge. Training and refresher sessions can be done in a formal classroom like setting or in the form of evacuation exercises.
